HTC Unveils ‘HTC Desire HD’ Android Powered Smartphone Featuring 8MP Camera With 720p HD Video Recording

HTC today unveiled a brand new HTC Desire HD Smartphone that is powered by Android v2.1 (Eclair) operating system, enables 720p HD video recording and features HTC Sense that integrates a variety of multimedia and location-based enhancements and introduces HTCSense.com, a series of new connected HTC services.

Building on the unibody heritage of the HTC Legend, the HTC Desire HD Smartphone is sculpted from a block of solid aluminum into a seamless compact frame and is powered by Android v2.1 (Eclair) upgrdable to Android v2.2 (FROYO) mobile operating system and features newly enhanced HTC Sense user interface with exciting new features.

The new HTC Sense experience offers a variety of enhancements that improve how people capture, create, share and access multimedia content. With HTC Locations, a new differentiated online mapping experience, people have instant, on-demand mapping without download delays or incurring mobile roaming charges.

Expected to be available in October 2010, the HTC Desire HD Smartphone is quad-band GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 and dual band 3G HSDPA 900/2100 Mhz network ready handset, which is equipped with 1-GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon QSD8255 1 GHz processor and is powered by Google’s latest Android v2.1 (Eclair) mobile OS.

Weighing only 164 gms, the HTC Desire HD Smartphone measures 123 x 68 x 11.8 mm and includes a 8.0 Megapixel Auto Focus camera with built-in DUAL-LED flash, Face Detection and Geo-tagging capability offering maximum 3264 x 2448 pixels resolution. The camera also offers 720p HD video recording.

Android v2.1 powered 3G ready HTC Desire HD Smartphone also features stereo FM radio with RDS, MP3 audio player MP3, AAC, AAC+, WMA formats, video media player supporting MP4, H.263/H.264 abd WMV9 formats. Other features of HTC Desire HD Smartphone includes built-in GPS receiver with A-GPS support, Digital Compass, Java MIDP 2.0 support, a dedicated key for search application and is Adobe Flash 10.1 ready. It also includes applications such as Google search, Google Maps, Gmail, YouTube, Google Talk, and Google Picasa, full HTML browser, Email with push email and IM clients, besides dedicated application for social networking including Facebook, Flickr, and Twitter.

HTC Desire HD Smartphone comes with powerful 1230 mAh standard Li-ion battery that can provide upto 6.5 hours of talk time and 340 hours of standby time on 2G network.

HTC Sense introduces a number of key innovations including a series of connected services called HTCSense.com service that enhance people’s mobile experience on HTC phones.

With the new HTCSense.com service, users can simply manage their mobile phone experience from their HTC phone or personal computer. HTCSense.com makes it easy to setup a new HTC phone or access archived mobile content such as contacts, text messages and call history from a PC browser. People can also customize their phones with exclusive HTC content like wallpapers, HTC scenes, sounds or plug-ins.
