Google-Samsung Nexus S (i9020) Smartphone With Android 2.3 Gingerbread

Google has today officially introduced Android 2.3 Gingerbread, the next version of Android operating system for mobile phones and also announced on this blog entry that the latest version Android 2.3 Gingerbread would debut on Samsung’s upcoming Google’s branded Nexus S smartphone that is based on Samsung’s superstar iPhone killer Android smartphone, the Galaxy S i9000.

The Samsung Nexus S i9020 smartphone is Quad-band GSM: 850, 900, 1800, 1900 Tri-band HSPA: 900, 2100, 1700 HSPA type: HSDPA (7.2Mbps) HSUPA (5.76Mbps) compatible and is powered by 1 GHz Cortex A8 hummingbird chipset and features 512MB RAM along with 16GB of built-in flash memory but NO microSD card slot for additional external memory.

Only 129g in weight, Nexus S also offers Wi-Fi 802.11 n/b/g Wireless LAN, Bluetooth 2.1+EDR wireless connection, Near Field Communication (NFC) (explained little below), Assisted GPS (A-GPS) and microUSB 2.0 for wired connectivity.

Nexus S would also include 5 megapixel (2560×1920 pixel) rear camera with added LED flash and a front-facing VGA resolution camera for 3G assisted video calling newly offered by Android Gingerbread. Other features include Haptic feedback vibration, 3D Three-axis gyroscope, Accelerometer sensor for auto screen rotation, Digital compas, Proximity sensor for auto screen off, ambiance light sensor that automatically adjusts screen brighness with reference to surrounding light and 3.5mm 4-conductor headset jack (stereo audio plus microphone.

The NFC hardware lets you read information from NFC tags. Google has co-developed Samsung Nexus S with Android 2.3 with Samsung to ensure tight integration of hardware and software to highlight the latest advancements of the Android platform.
