Garmin-Asus has launched its first Android powered Navigation smartphone, the Garmin-Asus A10 Smartphone that is powered by Android v2.1 Eclair operating system offering full multi-tasking capabilities and is packed with some unique features to help users access their applications faster and easier.
Interestingly, Garmin-Asus’s earlier launched Garmin-Asus Nuvifone M10 GPS Device/Smartphone was powered by Microsoft Windows Mobile 6.5.3 operating system and that appeared more a dedicated GPS based navigational device than smartphone. The much anticipated Garmin Asus A10 smartphone is the first Android powered Navigation smartphone to be launched in India and is just second handset (first being Nuvifone M10) featuring Smart3 phone encompassing a phone, powerful internal GPS navigation device & social media tool, all packed in one slim, ergonomic and stylish package. “Smart3” aptly describe the M10 as the gateway to Smart Phone, Smart Navigation & Smart Lifestyle.
The device also features built-in Accelerometer sensor for auto display rotate, Digital Compass, and offers multi-touch input method and sports a large 3.2-inch, 256K color capable, 320 x 480 resolution resistive touchscreen display. Garmin-Asus A10 also features a 5.0 Megapixel auto-focus camera with maximum 2592 x 1944 pixel still picture resolution along with Geo-Tagging feature in addition to a front facing VGA resolution secondary camera for video calling on 3G network.
The Garmin-Asus A10 supports Google Mobile Services that includes apps for Gmail and YouTube and comes with built-in access to Google Android Market featuring an estimated 100,000 free high quality applications ready to download. Supported by the advanced Garmin GPS navigation technology, even in undesirable weather conditions, the Garmin-Asus A10 handset offers an impressive time to first fix (TTFT) (timeframe to acquire a satellite lock) of 33 seconds.
Other features include MP3 audio media player supporting MP3/eAAC+/WAV files, video media player supporting MP4/H.263/H.264 files, document viewers, and photo editor application.
